Halloween Potion Bottle Lights With Skull Cork Topper | Polyurethane & Epoxy Resin DIY
Halloween Potion Bottle Lights With Skull Cork Topper | Polyurethane & Epoxy Resin DIY

For this project I’m using 180g of my usual epoxy art resin, which has a 2A:1B mix ratio by weight You need to add a little pearl mica powder in order for the bottles to illuminate I’m measuring the resin into 10 pots containing 17g each I’m using 2 drops of my DecorRom translucent pigments – links in the description. Cherry, Tangerine, Lemon, Lime, Blueberry… Clover, Forget Me Not, Peach, Violet and Cream Carefully pour each pot of resin into a 20ml glass bottle. This will leave a small gap at the top for the light. A quick blast of the lighter in each bottle to kill the bubbles! To make the mini skulls for the topper I’m using Axson F180 polyurethane resin This has a 1A:1B mix ratio by weight. You only have 60 seconds so mix quickly! I’m tilting the mould as I add the resin to avoid trapped air around the jaw area I always trust skeletons, they never lie… Well you can see straight through them XD My jokes are pretty humerus eh? Each skull needs a 5mm hole to fit the lights through, so I start with a small drill bit and work up Polyurethane resin is easier to drill while it’s freshly cured and still a bit soft You could use epoxy resin if you wanted, it just takes a lot longer to cure A 5mm hole is also drilled through the corks These are just LED Christmas lights. Feed a skull and cork onto each light. How can you tell if a skeleton is sick? From his coffin XD I designed these labels using Photoshop and then laser-printed them onto special water slide decal paper Just 20 seconds in a shallow tray of cold water to soak Secure the bottle and give it a quick clean with a cloth Carefully slide the transfer onto the glass Don’t worry if it isn’t quite in the right place when you transfer it, you can move it around for a few moments Gently dab away any water with a tissue and leave to dry in a warm place My corks were a good tight fit for the bottles, but you can use a little glue if you need to You can see how the mica powder catches the light and looks amazing 😀 Thanks for watching, please hit the like button if you enjoyed the video 🙂 [Alexa] You could pick up a duster every once in a while

Hey what's up, I did some potions too

  3. Katzztar says:

Pity there's not a link to the music. I like it as much as I did that art in the video, which is a lot. But I do have one question… is it possible to not pop bubbles in some bottles as some potions would have some? And that in mind, how would you make a potion bottle (or cauldron) froth and possibly spill over?

Such a neat little project. Do you think that alcohol inks would work as well as the dyes you used. I have alcohol inks and would really love to give this a try.💜

    Massacre the bubbles! Muwhahahahaha!

  26. Brandon Saffell says:

I did a project pretty similar to this. I found that if the bottles were ever exposed to a even small change in temperature the bottles would crack, and ultimately flakes of glass would come off. If you do want to keep them until next year I would avoid keeping them in an attic or shed.

That's so cool! I loved it! Very creative!

  81. Lisanne Bond says:

Where did you get the water decal paper from? Mine yellowed & was too thick.

  82. Connie Buchwald says:

I’ve noticed, from watching your videos, that my resin, when mixed, is always thicker than yours, and others. Is that because I’m mixing by volume and not by weight? I’ve just ordered a scale, so I’m going to see if measuring by weight makes the difference. Am I on the right track?
By the way, thank you for all your videos. I’m just an old crafter with a new obsession , and the things I make are all for me to look at lol.
