A Cheap Alternative To The Swingyde Golf Training Aid


Hello. I’m Brian Fitzgerald The Golf Doctor. And today I’m going to show you a cheaper
alternative to one of my all time favorite training aids. The Swingyde. If you are interested in making a cheaper
alternative. Stay tuned. [MUSIC] So if this is your first time here. Welcome. This channel is all about helping you play
better golf. And if there is a theme to my channel. It’s about how you don’t have to spend very
much money to purchase training aids to help improve your golf. Most of what you need can be found in the
house or in the shed. So today is no exception. But we are going to start with the Swingyde
Training Aid. This is the only training aid I recommend,
so far. That you would go out and buy. It’s a great training aid. I use it a lot. And a lot of training aids you purchase initially
and you never ever use them. So if you would like to see how this works
if you are not sure. I will put a link to a video at the top of
the page there to show you how it works. Now today I am going to give you a cheaper
alternative to that. And what I have got here is a swimming noodle. So. The swimming noodle is about 15 inches long
and I have actually got 2 elastic bands that I have created and I have put a slit through
the middle of that. It’s probably about 3 inches long. So all I need to do to make this work. Is I put the slit over the top of the club
like that. And then I get my elastic band there. So I have already got one elastic band and
on the bottom. So you can see there I have one elastic band
over here and I have got the other elastic band there. So that is pretty much stuck on the golf club. So the thing about the Swingyde is we wanted
to get the little swingyde rest on to our left wrist. On to our left fore arm. Both on the backswing and the downswing. What I do with this is I just line it up to
make sure it’s parallel to the club face. And when I swing. I want to swing so that that hits me on the
right shoulder. I then come through and I want it to hit me
on the left shoulder. So this gets a newer golfer in particular. Used to the fact that the hands do something
in the golf swing. If we just take it back without the use of
the hands. That doesn’t hit me on the shoulder. Obviously if I use my hands too much. It hits me in the chest or the neck. So we just need to work on. Making sure that we swing that back. What do I need to do to make that hit me on
both shoulders. So we can do it from this angle too. This gets the club on plane or on line and
that works quite well. The down side is when you hit shots every
time it hits you on the shoulder. It moves and you have got to do it. So this is a very cheap alternative. In all honesty the best thing you can do is
buy The Swingyde. It’s a terrific training aid. We will grab that swingyde now. So the swingyde works on a similar principle. I want to take it back so that the rest hits
me on the left forearm. I then come through and I can hit shots and
it doesn’t move. It’s a terrific little training aid. So that is pretty much it. If you want a cheap alternative. Go and buy yourself a swimming noodle, a couple
of elastic bands and it works really well. So thank you for letting me help you with
